Climbing shoes are a distinct breed. Long before the steam-lined, light-weight modern versions we see today, we harken back to the earlier years in the 1930s when thick rubber soles were introduced. Back in the day, these thick-soled shoes were a necessity to protect the feet from any potential dangers although the trade-off was the added weight.
Each replica of a vintage climbing shoe features the finest craftsmanship all done by hand. Much like the real shoe, the visual and textural appeal of 100% genuine cowhide leather adds to its novelty. The soles were treated in non-toxic inks to give it a dark brown finish. The bottom features symmetrical prints, all painstakingly hand-carved. The multi-layered 3D effect of the external features of the shoe is accentuated with curved linings that extend outward. The shoelaces complete the masterpiece giving with the shoe tongue curved and suspended in time.
