Let’s put our thinking caps on and deconstruct the ideas/concepts behind the myths and legends of the dragon. First, the word ‘dragon’ has origins in the Greek word drakon meaning ‘a kind of serpent.’ Second, myths tend to portray the dragon as a gigantic, imposing monster – thus, something to be feared. Third, myths tend to portray a time when the dragon(s) and humans appeared to co-exist at the same time. No one ever gets to see dragons today and let’s face it: it is highly unlikely that there actually were fire-breathing serpents that walked the face of the earth – even if it would have been so cool.

However, here is a mind-blowing proposition:

a serpent-like creature + gigantic in size + co-existed with humans (trust us, this may have been
possible) = a dra… drag… a... d... dinosaur?!

Just like how the Flintstones (nostalgia alert: Fred, Wilma, the rest of the gang and Dino-technology) captured the imagination of many of us growing up, medieval folklore has brought us countless dragon stories of the fire-breathing sort that somehow even found its way in Disney classics like in Sleeping Beauty when Prince Phillip fights off the dragon with a sword in hand.

As crazy as it sounds, it is possible that the mythology behind the idea of dragons might be because we humans once came in actual contact, lived among, and saw these ginormous (gigantic + enormous) dinosaurs which eventually were fancifully embellished with the legendary fire-breathing, winged, and threatening adjectives which we know today as descriptions of the iconic dragon in Chinese folklore, horoscopes/zodiacs, cultural myths, and contemporary pop culture.

In the East, many Asians view the dragon as a symbol of 'luck' which has somehow also ended up in many Chinese Kung Fu movies embodied so much by Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan to name a few. In fact, FYI, you probably did not this but did you know that Jackie Chan's Chinese name (written as 成龍)  means “being a dragon”?  (Now, cue the cinematic background music from Bruce Lee's Enter The Dragon).

So, maybe you might think we’re crazy? Maybe we are. We admit what we are crazy enough to make this crazycool, one-of-a-kind dragon keychain! Be amazed at the fine details in this artistic masterpiece.
